How to Use Etherscan to Track Your ETH Transactions

  • by

A beginner’s guide to viewing crypto activity on the Ethereum blockchain

As a Bankful merchant accepting ETH payments, you’re now part of the Web3 economy—where transactions aren’t just processed, they’re published on a public blockchain ledger for full transparency.

That’s where Etherscan comes in.

Whether you’re receiving ETH from a customer, withdrawing from your Bankful Vault, or reviewing your wallet activity, Etherscan lets you see everything happening on-chain—clearly, publicly, and in real time.

What Is Etherscan?

Etherscan is a free website that acts like a “blockchain explorer” for the Ethereum network. Think of it like online banking for crypto—except instead of logging into a private bank portal, you’re viewing public transaction history anyone can verify.

With Etherscan, you can:

  • ✅ View incoming and outgoing ETH payments
  • ✅ Confirm the status of a transaction (e.g., pending, confirmed)
  • ✅ Check gas fees
  • ✅ See wallet balances and histories
  • ✅ Track the status of your Vault withdrawals

How to Use Etherscan with Your Bankful Transactions

After you withdraw ETH from your Vault or receive a crypto payment, Bankful will show a Transaction Hash (a long string of letters and numbers). This is your unique receipt on the blockchain.

Here’s how to look it up:

Step 1: Copy the Transaction Hash

  • In your Bankful Dashboard, go to the Payouts or Transaction History section.
  • Click the eye icon 👁️ next to the transaction.
  • This will open Etherscan in a new tab (or you can copy the hash manually and paste it into etherscan.io).

Step 2: View the Transaction

Once on Etherscan, you’ll see:

  • Status: Confirmed or Pending
  • From and To: The wallet addresses involved
  • Amount: How much ETH was sent
  • Gas Fee: The fee paid to process the transaction
  • Block: The “block number” where the transaction was recorded

Step 3: Confirm Everything Looks Right

  • Make sure the “To” address matches your MetaMask wallet (you can view your address by opening MetaMask and copying it).
  • If the transaction says “Success”, your ETH is already in your wallet.

Why This Matters

Unlike traditional payment systems, Ethereum transactions are fully transparent. You don’t have to rely on a processor’s status page—you can verify everything yourself, in real time, using Etherscan.

This gives you:

  • Trust (every transaction is trackable)
  • Security (you control the wallet receiving funds)
  • Visibility (no hidden delays or missing funds)

Bonus: Viewing a Wallet Instead of a Transaction

Want to see all activity for a wallet?

  1. Copy your MetaMask wallet address
  2. Paste it into https://etherscan.io
  3. You’ll see a full breakdown of:
    • All incoming/outgoing transactions
    • Current ETH balance
    • History of gas fees
    • Any tokens or assets held in that wallet
