Chargeback alerts & rapid dispute resolution (RDR) disclaimer

Last updated: August 26, 2026

Chargeback Alerts and Rapid Dispute Resolution (RDR) help merchants identify and manage eligible card disputes. Depending on the service and the transaction, they may give you an opportunity to take action before a dispute progresses or resolve an eligible dispute under the applicable program rules.

Use this article to understand how these services work together, what actions you may need to take, and the important limitations that apply. Availability and eligibility vary by account, transaction, processor, and card-network requirements.

1. How Chargeback Alerts and RDR Help

Chargeback Alerts notify you when eligible dispute-related activity occurs. They give you an opportunity to review the transaction and decide whether action is appropriate before the dispute progresses.

Rapid Dispute Resolution (RDR) is an automated dispute-resolution service for eligible transactions. When the applicable program rules and your account configuration allow it, RDR may resolve an eligible dispute without requiring you to respond through the standard dispute process.

The services have different functions and may both be active on the same account.

2. How RDR differs from Chargeback Alerts

Chargeback Alerts notify you of eligible dispute-related events for Visa and Mastercard transactions. This gives the merchant a chance to review the transaction. RDR is different because it only applies to eligible Visa transactions and can automatically resolve them under the program rules.

When RDR resolves an eligible transaction, the cardholder is refunded and the merchant does not keep the sale amount. The transaction is treated as a refund, not a chargeback, and does not count toward applicable chargeback-ratio limits.

Chargeback Alerts do not stop a cardholder from filing a dispute. If both services are active, check the transaction status before issuing a refund. Do not issue another refund if RDR has already resolved the transaction, because this could result in the cardholder being refunded twice.

3. Merchant Responsibilities

Chargeback Alerts and RDR support your dispute-management process, but they do not replace your responsibilities as the merchant.

You are responsible for:

  • Monitoring your account and available dispute information.
  • Reviewing and responding to dispute cases within applicable card-network deadlines.
  • Confirming that refunds, responses, and other actions were completed as intended.
  • Maintaining appropriate fraud-prevention, customer-service, refund, cancellation, and dispute-management practices.

Receiving an alert or having access to RDR does not transfer these responsibilities to Bankful or a third-party service provider.

4. Important Limitations

Bankful provides access to chargeback alert and Rapid Dispute Resolution (RDR) services through third-party partners integrated with the Bankful platform. Bankful acts solely as an intermediary in providing access to these services and does not control the timing, accuracy, delivery, or outcome of an alert or dispute process.

Bankful does not control the timing, accuracy, delivery, or outcome of an alert or dispute process. Chargeback Alerts and RDR do not guarantee prevention of chargebacks, reversals, or network penalties.

The underlying services are facilitated through third-party partners. Bankful is not liable for discrepancies, delays, losses, or errors in billing, notification, or reporting associated with Chargeback Alerts or RDR.

Service availability, eligibility, transaction handling, and outcomes are subject to the applicable third-party, processor, merchant account, and card-network terms and conditions.

5. Fees, Enrollment, and Changes

Applicable fees for Chargeback Alerts and RDR are shown in the Merchant Dashboard. The Merchant Dashboard pricing and fee schedule controls for your account.

Service availability, enrollment, and configuration changes depend on your account arrangement and the applicable program requirements. Contact Bankful Support for account-specific questions about eligibility, enrollment, or configuration.

6. Fees, Enrollment, and Changes
